Is it a shared view of the world, being in the same soul family and having shared one or more past lives together (with karma both good and bad attached to it), similar goals and ambitions, really ‘seeing’ the other person (like in Avatar) and unconditionally loving each other?  Sure, it is all of those things but I feel that the biggest thing that makes two people soul mates is sharing the same life lessons.

David and I are both natural born entrepreneurs, creative, with ideas that were way before our time when we started our businesses.  Both of us hired friends as employees and were pushovers as far as being really good to them at our own expense.  We have both worked really hard most of our lives and now in our mid 50s still have very little to show for it in spite of being students of the law of attraction and  having what we feel is an excellent prosperity consciousness.  We have forgiveness, gratitude and success principals ingrained in our consciousness.  We believe that it should be easy, like our love has always been and yet making money is still very hard for both of us.  My belief is that this is our life lesson that we were brought together to both conquer and that together we WILL conquer it.

Through the law of attraction we draw people to us, through our own vibrations and beliefs, who have something to teach us in our soul’s journey.  Some will push our buttons and teach us forgiveness, others will encourage us and be our supporters, some will force us to rebel against them which then leads us to be all that we came here to be and couldn’t have been without that rebellion. That was the case with my parents.  All of these are soul mate relationships.  We can have more than one soul mate in a lifetime as different soul mates serve different purposes in our growth path.

In romantic love, some of us are lucky enough to find that person who we choose to love unconditionally, and that is the big lesson of love, and the reason for soul mates.  We came here to learn how to love and be joyful, and soul mates allow that opportunity.  The real lesson is in loving that person unconditionally rather than expecting them to love you unconditionally.  It seems that when you love unconditionally and BE the love you want to receive, you WILL receive it.  When you receive it from and give to that person who really makes your heart sing then that person is your soul mate.

Soul mates aren’t about a particular physical attribute.  It is best to have no preconceived notions at all about what your soul mate is likely to look like.  David and I felt our way into our relationship before we even met as it was an internet relationship with 200 letters each way before our meeting.  Remarkably, we knew we loved each other long before we met and what we looked like had no importance.

Create a vision for what it FEELS like to be with your soul mate.  The comfort level when you are just holding hands and doing nothing is what it is about.  What does your intuition tell you about him/her.  Most importantly, live totally in the present with this person.  Empty your psyche of all previous hurts and disappointments and be open to what the universe is now sending your way.

Oh yes, and the ability to love each other’s mother also helps a lot!

   I have been using the law of attraction to bring into my life the things I most want. It works for everything as there are no limits to what the universe can give – the only limit is your own imagination. It just takes understanding and knwoing it will work that makes it so powerful.
