About Dianne Purdie
Dianne grew up in Miami, went to the University of Florida in Gainesville where she got a degree in psychology, spent 4 years in Washington DC where her first husband was in dental school and then lived most of her adult life (prior to meeting David) in Orlando.
Dianne had many careers, as you will read in the book SomeDayMyPrinceWill.com, but was entrepreneurial by nature and ending up owning her own business, Dreamtime Cruises & Tours, (later called Dreamtime Journeys in England) that created and sold niche market (mostly body-mind-spirit and personal growth in nature) conferences at sea on cruise ships.
Dianne feels she was destined to be a rebel and trendsetter. She is a builder of dreams and hope. Her great joy in escorting her group cruises was in helping women who had experienced divorce and/or other challenges have a transformational experience that would help them create a new beginning in their lives. In her own unique way, she offered them inspiration to change, grow, love and live with passion. One of her fondest memories which she repeated many times was getting a group of women together one night on the cruise ship and doing karaoke to “I Will Survive”.
Dianne was always a unique and fun mother to her two daughters who still never know what she will do next! They have embarked on more stable and traditional careers, Dara is an actuary and Aimee is an accountant! Dara lives in Chicago and Aimee lives in Boston. They both have very nice partners (one day maybe husbands). You will read about them in the book. Their real names have been changed for their father’s privacy. Dianne misses them being an ocean apart but is very close with both of them in her heart and they are only a phone call or an email away for an instant connection.
Dianne lives in England now, happily married to David. She is a legal secretary at Mayo Wynne Baxter in Brighton and really enjoys her job. She works there Monday through Thursday and on Friday she writes and works on the internet. Book 2 that she is working on now will contain more emails and the decision to move to England. It will also be about what it is like being an American living in England and of course what happens when the honeymoon is over. Hint….it isn’t over. It’s all in your state of mind…
David was born in Glasgow and although his family left Scotland for England when he was 3, he strongly identifies with being Scottish. Other than a brief time of living in the north and a brief time in Essex, David has spent most of his life on the south coast of England in Sussex.
David is also an entrepreneurial person, who created a business by going against the flow and doing what others deemed impossible. His college years included an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. Frustrated with the waste and high expenses due to obsolescence in the industry, he created a business www.invisitech.co.uk that removes all obsolescence issues for high value equipment and printed circuit boards. He has been in business for 24 years now and there has never been a situation that he could not provide a solution to. David loves his business and works on it when he isn’t working in it.
David has two daughters. He sadly lost his son Scott in 1997. Vickie is a nurse, actually a matron with her own wards she manages at a large hospital in Southampton. Rachel is a buyer for The Body Shop, is happily married to Matt, and has given us our first grandchild, Oscar, born 25 January 2010. We absolutely adore him!
To entertain himself in his spare time (what spare time?), he has started painting (which he was taught on the Queen Mary 2 on a transatlantic crossing). This has built upon a previous artistic history of making stained glass pictures using traditional medieval techniques.
Additionally, David has started writing a happiness book that will be coming soon at www.happinessthefinalfrontier.com. He feels very strongly that life is what you make it; that it is down to individuals to make their own situation the cause of their personal happiness rather than blaming everybody or everything for their sadness. It is based on his strong belief in the law of attraction and the power of positive mental attitude, which Dianne shares with him.
Dianne and David both love to travel and particularly love taking cruises. They have sailed together in the Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Mediterranean, Greek Isles and the Baltic Sea. They hope to travel to more exotic destinations one day when time and money allow.
